Ashbys Stain Guard is a professional, water‑based protector for wet‑cleanable fibres, designed to be applied when carpets, rugs and upholstery are damp from cleaning. It is also suitable for new or dry carpets and rugs (for extra‑thick pile, lightly mist the surface with clean water to aid absorption). The advanced blend of fluorocarbon and alcohol penetrates fibres to deliver long‑lasting stain resistance and a built‑in antistatic finish.
Important: This product will not damage rubber, bitumen, bonded carpet backs or flocked materials. Do not use on leather and dry wet‑cleanable or dry‑clean only fabrics. Upholstery must always be damp from cleaning before protection is applied. For excluded items, select Ashbys Stain Guard SOLVENT Based Stain Protector 5 Ltr (PC5868).

How to apply (clear, step‑by‑step)

Check condition: If the item is dirty, carry out a full professional wet clean and rinse out all detergent residues. If brand new or already clean, you may apply Stain Guard without pre‑cleaning.

Dampness matters: Fibres should be damp at the surface for best absorption. Freshly cleaned items will already be damp. For new or dry extra‑thick pile carpets/rugs, lightly mist the surface with clean water before application.

Upholstery rule: Do not protect dry upholstery. Upholstery must be damp from cleaning at the time of application.

Sprayer setup: Use a quality sprayer at around 30 psi / 2 Bar for consistent atomisation.

Nozzles: T‑Jet 80 02 for carpets and rugs; T‑Jet 80 01 for upholstery, curtains and wall fabrics.

Spray technique: Hold the nozzle 25–30 cm (10–12 inches) above the surface and apply in smooth, overlapping passes for even coverage.

Coverage guide: Carpets & rugs: 1 L per 12–17 m². Upholstery: 1 L per 18–25 m². Adjust slightly for fibre density and pile depth.

Drying: Allow 1–2 hours with good ventilation. Deep pile may take longer. Avoid traffic or use until fully dry.
