Ashbys Stain Guard – Professional Solvent Based Carpet, Rug, Upholstery & Leather Protector (5 Ltr)
Ashbys Stain Guard (Solvent Based) is a professional protector for dry carpets, rugs, upholstery, leather and dry‑clean only fabrics. It is the ideal choice where water based protectors cannot be used. The advanced solvent carrier drives the protector deep into the fibres, giving long lasting stain resistance, deep fibre protection and a clean antistatic finish that your customers notice and appreciate.
Used as an add on after cleaning, this product helps you increase the value of each job, improve customer satisfaction and build repeat business. Once customers see how well it works, they are far more likely to ask for stain protection every time.
Important usage notes
Important: This product must not be applied to damp or freshly cleaned items. All carpets, rugs, upholstery and leather must be fully dry before application to achieve the best results.
Do not use on rubber, bitumen, bonded carpet backs or flocked materials, as the solvent base may soften adhesives or attack these backings.
For wet cleanable items that are still damp from cleaning, use Ashbys Stain Guard WATER Based Protector (PC5869) instead.

How profitable can stain protection be?
Stain protection is one of the easiest ways to increase your average job value. Most professional cleaners offer it as a simple add on, and customers appreciate the extra protection because it genuinely helps their carpets, rugs and upholstery last longer.
If you work Monday to Friday and complete 3 cleaning jobs per day at £70 per job, taking 3 weeks holiday per year, converting just 1 job per day to include stain protection can increase your annual income by around £17,150. Converting 2 jobs per day can raise that figure to approximately £34,300.
This turns a quick, straightforward application into a reliable, repeatable profit stream. Your customers get long lasting protection, and you benefit from stronger margins, higher customer satisfaction and more repeat business.
How to apply (clear, step by step)
We recommend applying this product with a high quality sprayer such as the Kwazar Orion 3 Ltr Pump‑Up Sprayer. For a more economical option, the XI6 6 Ltr Pump‑Up Sprayer is also suitable. Both sprayers are supplied with the correct jet options to ensure effective and even application.
-
Ensure items are completely dry: Carpets, rugs, upholstery and leather must be fully dry before application. Do not apply to damp or freshly cleaned fibres.
-
Set up your sprayer: Use the Kwazar Orion Super Pro+ 3 Ltr Pump‑Up Sprayer (PC6173) or the XI6 6 Ltr Pump‑Up Sprayer for even, controlled application.
-
Choose the correct nozzles: Use T‑Jet 80 02 for carpets and rugs, and T‑Jet 80 01 for upholstery, curtains and wall fabrics.
-
Apply using smooth, overlapping passes: Hold the nozzle 25–30 cm (10–12 inches) above the surface and spray in steady, overlapping passes to ensure even coverage.
-
Coverage rates:
Carpets & rugs: 1 Ltr covers approximately 16–20 m²
Upholstery: 1 Ltr covers approximately 30 m² (around one three piece suite)
A double application may be necessary for extra thick or heavy duty items.
-
Allow to dry fully: Let the protector dry naturally with good ventilation. Avoid traffic or use until the fibres are completely dry.
